Misgana Kurban, Author at Tiljala SHED

Tarang is a cultural development unit of Tiljala SHED and the platform for disadvantaged children to learn and display their skills in various performing arts. It was set up in 2004 with support from well wishers in France, Switzerland and the US. Every two years, Tarang holds an event during which the children put up their shows, making it a great fun filled occasion for them. This is something they take pride in preparing for and truly look forward to. Up until now we have held six such events at premier city auditoriums like G.D. Birla Sabhaghar and Kala Mandir. Under the Tarang banner, the children also perform in various other city cultural events.

Kalamandir is one of the biggest and most popular performing centers in Kolkata. The idea was to organize this cultural center through Tiljala SHED by having volunteers be the choreographers for the children to perform on the stage in front of the city’s elite crowd creating a confidence for the children.

Activities of the Cultural Development Program include:
– Dance
– Theatre
– Singing
-Creating music with instruments
